New Climate for Health Program Will Help Put America on a Path to Thrive

ClimateForHealth logoThe Climate for Health Leadership Circle, made up of health leaders from around the country, met yesterday to review progress on their new national program, Climate for Health. This program, part of ecoAmerica’s MomentUs initiative, is due to launch early next year. It will empower health sector leaders and professionals to address the public health challenges of climate change and foster greater support for climate solutions. The leaders in attendance offered their feedback and suggestions to help ensure the program will resonate with others in the health sector as well as the general public.
The health impacts of climate change are already being felt, yet most Americans aren’t aware of the link between health and climate. Health professionals have always been strong advocates for solutions to America’s pressing health problems, and they’re uniquely positioned to meet this new challenge because they’re highly trusted, accessible, and able to reach a broad and diverse range of people.
Climate for Health will offer tools and resources to help members of the health sector feel ownership of climate solutions and talk about them effectively. It will allow leaders to:
Make an impact by taking steps to improve operational efficiencies in their own facilities and organizations.
Engage others by using relevant messages and talking points to explain the importance of the health/climate connection and why they took action.
Connect with other leaders and organizations, share news, ideas, and success stories, and raise awareness of the climate movement.
The founding leaders of Climate for Health represent key health care, public health, clinical, and medical institutions and associations across the entire sector. They are looking to inspire new leaders who want to help create a thriving society, and build an atmosphere of collaboration and hope for the future.
