Why Americans Don’t Get Climate Change

At the UNFCCC climate talks in Cancun in December 2010, Ted Turner famously asked “When will the world understand that we are right and they are wrong?”. The timing isn’t actually clear, but they will get it – reality is on our side. In the meantime though, many climate solutions advocates continue to ask why Americans don’t get climate change. It turns out that there are a lot of mutually reinforcing answers to this question.

The most concise, comprehensive statement of why Americans don’t get climate change may be Michael Shermer’s one page synopsis of his book, “The Believing Brain”, published in the July issue of Scientific American. Rather than summarize the summary, we offer you the links to the article and Michael Shermer’s book itself.
